INCAR is a networked special interest group on the topic of resilience in its broad form to capture resiliency among persons and groups, within cities and communities, in the context of crisis events, such as war and natural disasters, The focus is on knowledge creation and dissemination of the science and social ecology of resilience, serving as a focal point for emerging studies and evidence-based practice and policy. It is an initiative spear-headed by Dr. Christine Wekerle, Pediatrics, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (wekerc@mcmaster.ca). Originating as a not-for-profit, it has evolved into a research network with a strong focus on under-served and under-studied youth populations, which continues to disseminate broadly to media, journal publications, books, and governmental reports.
